Kwara: Gov Abdulrazaq promises to strengthen manufacturing sector

The Kwara State Government has promised to formulate and implement policies that would strengthen the manufacturing sector in the state.

The State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq stated this Thursday while speaking at the 5th Annual General meeting of the Manufacturing Association of Nigeria (MAN) Kwara/Kogi states branch with the theme “Circular Economy: A tool of wealth for manufacturers”.

Governor AbdulRazaq who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi explained that the timing of the event is unique and coming at a time the State and the Nation are poised for rapid and accelerated development with aggressive crusade on diversification of the economy through development of agriculture, trade and industrialisation.

The Governor noted that as Manufacturers the impact of the circular economy is a reduction in the costs and creation of new economic model as costs are high as most of the resources are imported and scarce including fossil fuels.

He stressed that the circular economy could greatly reduce costs by recycling waste adding that the State has great potential of transforming waste into resources, developing new functions in order to rethink the production chain.

Governor AbdulRazaq said the State investment climate encourages new sectors that repair, reuse and recycle to flourish.

The Governor explained that the government’s focus on Public/Private/Partnership PPP driven strategy is to improve on the existing relationship between the government and private individuals to provide quality services.

He appealed to investors in the area of manufacturing to take advantage of the State youthful population and the numerous investment opportunities in agriculture and mining sectors to advance the State government’s economic transformation to the next level.

Governor AbdulRazaq stressed that the government would take full advantage of its agrarian gifts of nature by opening up the various communities with good roads and basic amenities to make the State hub for agricultural value chain in Africa.

He pledged that the present administration would take basic amenities of life to the rural communities such as decent health centres, schools and Internet connectivity to encourage young people to invest in agriculture.
