The Executive Director of Challenged Parenthood Initiative (CPI), Eunice Abimbola Agbogun has bemoaned the absence of women in the current seventh Assembly in Kogi State.

Agbogun disclosed this during an advocacy visit to the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi on Monday.

She said the 25 lawmakers in the House are all men which according to her is a disaster to the country’s nascent democracy.

While seeking for the monarch’s support to put an end to victimization of women during election, Agbogun noted that it is time for women to rise up to the occasion by coming out to vote in the forthcoming election.

Responding, the Obaro of Kabba said his cabinet will continue to partner with the organization to achieve this goal but, however, expressed his reservations that there is no deliberate attempt to stop women in politics in Nigeria.

The monarch maintained that some women have continued to see themselves as inferior in the society which according to him should be discouraged by all as violence against women can also be self inflicted.

Owoniyi called for a reorientation in the girl-child education just as he emphasized on the need for couples to develop trust among themselves during electioneering processes.
