Finally, Kogi Assembly sacks Dep Gov, Achuba

The Kogi State House of Assembly on Friday sacked the embattled deputy governor of the state, Elder Simon Achuba.

Achuba’s sack followed the submission of the judicial panel of enquiry set up by the state Chief Judge, Justice Nadir Ajanah to investigate allegations of gross misconduct leveled against him.

Chairman of the panel, Barrister John Baiyeshea on Friday led six other members of the panel, to submit the report to the Speaker, of the state House of Assembly, Kolawole Matthew, at the State House of Assembly in Lokoja.

But the House few hours after the submission announced the deputy governor’s impeachment after an emergency meeting.

Majority leader of the House, Bello Balogun representing Ajaokuta state constituency made the announcement. He said that the House met, sat and deliberated on the recommendations of the panel to arrived at their conclusion.

News Hub Mag! recalls that the committee was set up in August following allegations of gross misconduct leveled against the Deputy Governor when he accused Governor Yahaya Bello of withholding his salaries and imprests since 2017 — an allegation denied by the government during hearing by the committee.

Meanwhile, the running mate to governor Yahaya Bello, Chief Edward Onoja is to be sworn in by 10am tomorrow Saturday as the new deputy governor of the state.
