Following the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic that has killed thousands of people across the globe, a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Honourable Rasaq Owolabi has cautioned members of the public against going out frivolously.

Owolabi, who is the House Committee Chairman on Health and Environment, informed our reporter today, in an exclusive interview, that everyone who resides in Kwara should endeavour to stay at home pending when the crisis will be over.

He said the state Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the Speaker, Honourable Yakubu Danladi are making concerted efforts to ensuring that the state doesn’t have any record of the pandemic.

According to him, the First Lady, Dr. Olufolake Abdulrasaq, is also working with relevant bodies towards preventing the pandemic in the state.

He therefore urged members of the public to adhere to the medical instruction being given by the medical practitioners towards averting the outbreak of the deadly disease in the state.

He stressed that individuals should wash hands at regular intervals, use sanitisers and also avoid gathering that is more than 25 saying people should play their parts by cooperating with the state government.

“We don’t have any record of the pandemic in the state and we pray we don’t have it. It’s something that is almost impossible to fight, so, it’s better we put up all measures to prevent it from getting to Kwara.

“Our Governor, in collaboration with the Speaker of the Assembly, is doing his best to see that Kwara remains a state that will not have any record of the disease. Till everything is settled, we employ our people to sit back home, no need of going to places that are of no or less importance for now.

“We sympathise with other communities across the globe who are currently battling with the pandemic and we pray God will put a stop to it,” Owolabi prayed.
