Covid-19: Again, Owolabi shares relief materials, targets party members

In a bid to ameliorate the effects of the ongoing stay-at-home that was necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic, a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Rasaq Owolabi, on Saturday, distributed no fewer than 1000 bags of semovita and other relief materials at his Share/Oke-Ode constituency.

News Hub Mag! recalls that the lawmaker has been sharing, daily, relief materials ever since the lockdown order was made by the Kwara State government, under the leadership of the executive Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Today, the sharing formula took a new twist as the lawmaker shared 1000 bags of semovita, 500 hand sanitisers, packets of soaps, salts, sugars and other materials among the 10 wards in Share/Oke-Ode constituency.

Wards that benefited from the gesture are Ile-Ire Ward, Oro-Ago Ward. Others are Share 1, Share 2, Share 3, Share 4 and Share 5.

Also on the roll call of the beneficiaries are; Oke-Ode 1, Oke-Ode 2, Oke-Ode 3.

Speaking to News Hub Mag! after the exercise, Owolabi gave reasons the materials were shared at the ward levels.

He said party members have not really benefited in the sharing of relief materials ever since the exercise started saying government’s plan is to ensure everyone in the state get the relief.

He added that everyone, regardless of his or her political affiliation, religion or ethnic background, will get the government palliative measures during the lockdown.

“We thank everyone particularly our party members for their understanding, maturity and respect for the government of the day. Our proactive Governor, Mallam Abdulrazaq has drawn out perfect sharing plans that will make everyone in the state a beneficiary. If it has not come to you, be patient,” he assured.

Reacting to the lawmaker’s gifts the ward chairman at Share ward 4, Alhaji Tunrawa Abdulahi commended Owolabi for good representation.

He said Owolabi is a politician with a large heart who at all times shared gifts for his people saying other public officers should emulate him.

Also, speaking with News Hub Mag! the Oke-Ode 3, ward chairman, Sulyman Aweda, who after lauding Owolabi’s efforts, prayed for the peace of the ward, the state and the country in general.

He said though the novel coronavirus pandemic has not entered the state but urged everyone to adhere to the precautionary measures so as to ensure it doesn’t spread in Kwara State.
