The Kwara State Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi has described quality education as the only solution to the Nation’s problems.
Mr. Alabi made this known on Thursday in his office when he received members of the Governing Council of the University of Ilorin led by its Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Jibril Oyekan who paid him a courtesy visit.
The Deputy Governor who decried the ugly trend of anti social behaviour in the country, identified sound and qualitative education as a potent tool to achieving a decent and prosperous society in Nigeria.
“Without proper and quality education, this country cannot move forward” he said.
Mr Alabi however affirmed that the right education is a powerful tool to fight corruption and other social problems that are bedeviling the social space in Nigeria even more than the EFCC and ICPC.
The Deputy Governor, who was very elated with the rising profile of the University of Ilorin, said the institution has become a pride to the entire Kwara state.
He commended the management of the Institution for making it a leading center of learning in the country.
Mr Alabi therefore urged the authority of the University of Ilorin to continue to keep the flag of the institution flying, saying that the institution’s positive impact is being felt in and outside the country.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of the University of Ilorin Governing Council, Dr Abdullahi Jibril Oyekan said the visit was to welcome the new Government in the state and to identify with it, saying that the Institution and the state government have been enjoying a cordial working relationship for a long time.
He said the institution has made its mark as the most sought after institution in Nigeria with track record, just as he promised a continued good working relationship with the present government in the state.
