Kwara NUJ congratulates new SWAN executives

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council has congratulated the newly elected chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State Chapter, Mr. Jimoh Bashir over his recent victory at the polls.

The release which was signed by the Chairman, Mallam Umar Abdulwahab and the Secretary, Deacon Omotayo Ayanda said ‘Your election is a testimony of the overwhelming trust reposed on you by the members of the body’.

The Council also felicitated with other members of the newly elected executive over their victory which held during the elective Congress held in Ilorin on Friday.

‘Your victory is well deserved considering your worth of experiences on the profession’, the release added.

‘More so, we commend all members of SWAN in the state for the way and manner they conducted themselves before, during and after the election, this will go a long way in bringing the desired development to the association and journalism in general.

‘We urged the new chairman, as a committed sports journalist and unionist who has worked hard over the years to develop the association to use his new office to promote professionalism among members in sports reporting in the state.

‘You must live up to the expectations of the membership of NUJ by serving as a worthy ambassador in the next three years. As we celebrate this victory as a union we are not unaware of the fact that beyond the victory lies the onerous task of putting SWAN affairs nay sports reporting on the right track.

‘State Council of NUJ as a parent body, we are assuring you and your team that we will continue to provide the needed assistance to SWAN as partners in progress,” the statement said.
